The Barony of Littleberg

The Barony of Littleberg
Capital: Littleberg
Population: 100,000
Religions: Rao, Pelor
Symbol: Ram
Military Forces: Four companies of heavy spearmen anchor the army. Two companies of infantry mercenaries augment them, and another two companies of heavy cavalry provide the striking force. Clerical contingents assist every infantry squad. All troops wear heavy armor.
Elves make up two companies under their own leadership. These companies are bow-armed skirmishers who can erode an enemy’s forces before they can reach the elves. Each squad of elves has a spellcaster of some kind—either cleric or magic-user, or both.
Ruler: Baron Devlin Jemian is a tight-lipped, tight-fisted diplomat who is nonetheless widely considered a skilled swordsman and archer. He looks like Doctor Strange and fights like Robin Hood. Jemian was an adventurer before ruling the barony, a sometime traveling companion of Prince Thrommel. There are rumors that his family is cursed with lycanthropy. Yep, werewolves.

The Barony: The country is the dairy heartland of the kingdom. Its low, wide hills and patches of tough trees make farmland harder to find than in other parts of the country. Cheeses are their main export. Littleberg stinks at all times of the day and night. The other fiefs laugh at Littleberg’s reputation, but the modest barony always manages to have enough wealth for its needs.
Littleberg boasts a relatively large population of elves. Elven placenames are common. Elves are untrusted, seen as disruptors of the peace. Elven PCs arouse suspicion—an armored, armed elf with magic items gets as much attention as a orc with a bloody axe.
