The county of Crystalreach

The County of Crystalreach
Capital: Grabford
Population: 69,000
Religions: Rao, Cuthbert, Heironeous, Pholtus.
The ranking priest of Rao in Furyondy leads his flock from a busy cathedral in Grabford. Banak is a passionate speaker, a seeming incongruity among priests of reason and serenity. Last Breadgiving Day, Banak’s preliminary sermon began with 300 loyal workshippers, but by the time he ended, over 2,000 had traveled to hear his messages. Jakartai has been plagued by deserters among his soldiers and would like nothing more than to remove the powerful bishop.
This cathedral’s library is world-famous, including originals of many books on philosophy, theology, meditation and other esoteric topics.
Symbol: A Stirrup
Military Forces: The county fields a battalion of light spearmen, a company of archers, and 2-3 companies of heavy cavalry. They are not as heavily-armored as other cavalry in the country, but they are just as fierce on the attack.
Ruler: Count Artur Jakartai has a reputation as a stellar horseman, a fitting title for the ruler over the best horse-country this side of the Great Kingdom. He is too old to spend much time in the saddle these days, but he spent decades establishing his reputation, so it stands. The count spends his time enjoying the privileges of wealth and power—hunting, drinking, and hawking. He has minions to handle the tedium of managing the county.

The County: Crystalreach raises the best horses and horsemen in Furyondy. Their striped flanks make them easy to identify (the horses, not the horsemen). They are typically trained as warhorses, but some of the weaker bloodlines become riding horses.
